Ford To Launch Facelifted Endeavour

2009 ford endeavour

While Toyota Fortuner may have stole all the limelight for the past few days in the ever increasing big SUV market, Ford is no mood to let the new comer take away sales from the erstwhile champion Endeavour.

To counter the newest Toyota, Ford will soon launch the facelifted Endeavour in the Indian market soon. The new Endeavour comes with an entirely new front fascia with high mounted headlights and a new grille. The butch looks of the current version have been blunted to an extent by the facelift but the new front end is still full of attitude and is expected to go down well with a larger set of buyers some of whom found the looks of the current version too butch and in your face.

The new front end treatment also makes it look less boxy, in turn giving it a more modern profile. Ford hasnt touched the rear end styling which means it still has the the high mounted stop lamps and the rear wheel mounted on the rear door for that signature SUV look.

Mechanically, the engine remains the same which is a good news. The 3.0 litre variable geometry turbo common rail diesel engine is a torque monster and produces 10% more torque compared to the Fortuner and almost similar maximum power. The engine will now be mated to an optional 5-Speed automatic transmissions for city dwellers who want ease of driving. The new facelifted Endeavour will also come with an improved rear differential and shift on fly four wheel drive to improve the overall driving experience.

Dissapointingly though, the rear suspension is still leaf spring which has no place on a 21st centuary SUV.

What remains to be seen is if the buyers will go for the new kid on the block or the grand daddy? The first signs are ominous… let the SUV battle begin!
