Battlefield 1943 PC confirmed for September

The PC version of DICE's Battlefield 1943 has been confirmed for a September release, long after the console version.

EA DICE have confirmed several details about the recently revealed Battlefield 1943, not least of which is that the PC version of the game will hit shelves in September - long after the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 release, which is still dated only as a summer release.



Battlefield 1943 will be a downloadable, streamlined version of the original Battlefield 1942 that will go on sale for $15 USD (£10 GBP), according to EA DICE producer Gordon Van Dyke. Dyke also confirmed that the number of classes for both the PC and console version of the game has been trimmed down to just three options "to increase accessibility" and that a new fourth map has been added to the game - but will only be unlocked once all players reach a combined kill-count of 43 million.



Chatting in a Live Interview with Eurogamer, Dyke also revealed that there are no plans for an open beta of the game on either consoles or PC, though the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will get a demo before launch.



"No beta, but we have a trial version that lets you confirm what you already thought - that this game is the best USD 15 I will ever spend!" said Dyke.



Elsewhere in the interview DICE producer Patrick Liu mentioned that there were no plans to develop further content or DLC for the game and that the idea to make the new map unlock after a certain period of time was purely spontaneous and not indicative of any future plans.
