Hyundai will introduce a new variant of the popular i10 in the UK market which will come with a turbocharged 3 cylinder petrol engine. The new i10 will be introduced in the first half of 2010.

The new 800 CC turbocharged engine is based on Hyundai’s i10 Blue CNG concept which was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show with a power output of 97 bhp and CO2 emissions of just 65 g/km!

The production version will run on standard petrol since CNG is not a popular fuel in the UK. The new model is likely to be called i10 i-Blue and will also feature a slight cosmetic facelift to keep the buyers interested.

The i10 i-Blue will be the most powerful and most expensive i10 model in the range but low production costs of the engine means that it wont be too far over the current range topping 1.2

As for India, Hyundai will do itself a world of good if the engine is introduced in its original CNG form where it makes more power, 97 bhp at that. Couple that with popularity of CNG as a fuel in the metro’s and ultra low running costs, the i10 will be the largest selling car India has ever seen. Thats a tip for you Hyundai!
