The Nokia N97 mobile has been launched by Nokia and Vodafone in Mumbai. Vodafone will provide an exclusive free data plan for three months so that users of the Nokia N97 can use the services for browsing the internet.
Accordingly, all Vodafone customers will be eligible for this scheme for purchases from all Vodafone stores that retail Nokia devices, all retail outlets branded by Nokia, and also multi brand stores in nine different cities, Calcutta, Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Jaipur. The price of the Nokia N97 is expected to be around Rs. 35,000 /- and it is expected to start shipping in India next week. However, the official price of the handset has not yet been disclosed.
Those who purchase the Nokia N97 are also eligible to obtain exclusive access to The Groove a lifestyle widget. This provides them with live updates on movies, dining out, shopping, clubbing, cultural events and sports.
Users can also effectively utilize the A-GPS sensors along with an electronic compass so that users can effectively find their way. Also, it is the very first gadget to be accompanied with Ovi store. With the Ovi store on the Nokia N97, Indian consumers will get a choice to download 50 items for free. These items have been developed specifically for the Indian consumer by Indian developers themselves. Users can also download other worldwide items on a mixed paid and free basis.
To give you an idea about the technical details, the Nokia N97 will use an ARM 11 434 MHz processor that uses a Symbian OS (v9.4) along with a Series 60 UI. This mobile phone will come as ready for social networking and connectivity to the Ovi Store. There will be other features like:
